Sinh năm 1985, quê ở Kiên Giang. Thủy Tiên mồ côi cha từ năm 9 tuổi, sống với người mẹ tảo tần buôn bán để nuôi con khôn lớn. Năm 2003, Thủy Tiên xin mẹ được một mình lên học ở Sài Gòn. Trở thành sinh viên trường Cao đẳng Văn hóa, khoa Thanh nhạc.

Một lần tình cờ gặp nhạc sĩ Quốc Bảo và quen biết nhau. Từ đó cái tên Thuy-Tiên ra đời dưới thương hiệu BeMedia của nhạc sĩ Quốc Bảo.

Bản ghi âm được phát hành đầu tiên của Thuy-Tiên là hai ca khúc trong album của Quốc Bảo "Những chuyện kể" (11/2004). Sau đó, cô tiếp tục cộng tác với nhạc sĩ Quốc Bảo để giới thiệu một màu sắc âm nhạc mới của mình qua album Vol.1 Ngọt Và Đắng (2005).
